broadBAND!!
What Is Broadband?
A type of data transmission in which a single medium (wire) can carry several channels at once. Cable TV, for example, uses broadband transmission. Broadband technology can transmit data, audio, and video all at once over long distances.
What Units are used to Measure Bandwidth?
a data transmission rate; the maximum amount of information (bits/second) that can be transmitter along
How much faster is broadband than dial up?
10times faster, because it allows a large amount of data to travel through a medium at the same time. Dial Up means that you use an actual phone circuit to get data connectivity. The most you can get is around 56Kbps
What are the speeds that broadband operates at compared to dial up?
Dial Up you can get around 56kbps
What are some of the advantages of using a broadband connection to download something like a video compared to dial up?
Its much Faster to download something from broadband compared to dial up especially if you have unlimited. But Downloading speed depends on so many things like how far your surfing and thee distance between the distant end and your surf. The Distance between you and your phone exchange. Time of day speed would be faster in the morning then it will be later at night. How busy the site is usaully slows the internet down. all this slows down Broadband but broadband still is a faster download then dial up. It takes heaps of more time for dial up. It's so slow that a download that takes 1 minute in BB takes around 8 to 9 minutes in dial up.Broadband is a maxium of at least 3 mins wait depending on your situation.BB can also be cheaper in some cases.

Define IT !
Stereo:
Reproducer in which two microphones feed two or more loudspeakers to give a three-dimensional effect to the sound. Two photographs taken from slightly different angles that appear three-dimensional when viewed together.
Channel:
A path over which electrical signals can pass; "a channel is typically what you rent from a telephone company"
Track:
Path: a line or route along which something travels or moves
Frequency:
The ratio of the number of observations in a statistical category to the total number of observations
Hertz:
A measurement unit used to describe the frequency of sound.a unit of a frequency that cycles one time each second
Decibel:
A logarithmic unit of sound intensity; 10 times the logarithm of the ratio of the sound intensity to some reference intensity
Wav:
WAV (or WAVE), short for Waveform audio format, is a Microsoft and IBM audio file format standard for storing an audio bitstream on PCs.
mp3:
MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a digital audio encoding format using a form of lossy data compression.
aiff:
Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF) is an audio file format standard used for storing sound data for personal computers and other electronics

VIDEO ♥ QUESTIONS
1.The video format we will be using this term is Digital Video, what is the other, older format that was used recently.
The Older one was Analog
2. What are some advantages of digital video
Some of the Advantages are:
- More Programs can be used with it
- Higher fedality
- Easier less Problems
3.What is meant by Frame rate in Video
Frame rate, or frame frequency, is the measurement of the frequency (rate) at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images called
4.Do all applications use the same frame rate, explain your answer
No, because frame rates aren't all the same.
5.What is meant by resolution, how is it measured
Resolution in terms of electron density is a measure of the resolvability in the electron density map of a molecule.
6.What is the colour system called RGB
The RGB color model is an additive color mode in which red, green and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors . The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors red, green, and blue.
7.Explain the video standards PAL, NTSC, and SECAM, what are the main differences between them.
PAL : short for Phase Alternating Line, is a color-encoding system used in broadcast television systems
NTSC:NTSC is a color TV standard developed in the US in 1953 by the National Television System Committee. NTSC uses a Frame consisting of 486
SECAM:A color television system developed by the French and used in the former USSR. Secam operates with 625 lines per picture frame
8.Which standard do we use in Australia?
Australians frequently use PAL as it a more standard option
9.For what type of video camera would you need to have a Video Capture Card in your computer to download video?
No, Need for a video capture card because digitization occurs in the camera, there is no need for an analog-to-digital video capture card in your computer.
10.What is an IEEE 1394 port
The IEEE 1394 interface is a serial bus interface standard for high-speed communications and isochronous real-time data transfer, frequently used by personal computers, as well as in digital audio, digital video, automotive, and aeronautics applications.
11.Describe what a codec is:
The compressin and decompression of a video is handled by Codec. Codecs are apart of alot of hardware. Some codecs have a fixed compression ratio and therefore a fixed data rate. Others can compress each frame a different amount depending on its content, resulting in a data rate that can vary over time. Some codecs allow you to choose a quality setting that controls the data rate. Such adjustable setting can be useful in editing.
